Amy Wilhelmi graduated from Notre Dame de Namur University in Belmont, CA in 2009 with a dual degree in Art Therapy and Marriage and Family Therapy. She completed her clinical internship at Edgewood Center for Children and Families in San Francisco.
Shortly after graduating, she completed EMDR training for trauma. Her work also focuses on family systems, is trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, and practices Mindfulness. She received her 200hr yoga teacher certificate in 2018 and believes in integrating mind/body somatic work.
She's an IL native and moved back to IL to receive her Clinical License in 2011. It was then that she became a Clinical Member of AAMFT. In 2012, she started her own private practice in the suburbs of Chicago and grew to a team of 20 clinicians at one time, where she supervised many of them. She has had interns in her practice since she received her approved supervisor status. She trained in Divorce Mediation in 2018 at Northwestern University. In 2022, she published 2 books and one journal and started speaking at events. She believes in the power of truth, vulnerability, human connectedness, and storytelling.
In 2023, she closed the practice and started a Doctoral Program in Leadership and Policy studies. Her interest came from years of Clinical supervision. She is interested in the best practices for Clinical Supervision from an Intersectional, Anti-Racist, Feminist, and Trauma-informed lens.
In addition to her work at PA, Amy teaches part time in the Marriage and Family Therapy Program at The Family Institute at Northwestern University and is also a Program Clinical Supervisor for The Family Institute. Her favorite Clinical activities are supervision, teaching/ training and continuously improving systems from an equity framework
